Pig line solutions

Process-led planning from lairage to chilling

A useful pig line proposal starts with the facility and product route. We structure an initial review around the choices below; no output rate or project result is assumed.

New facility

Start with the site plan, animal entry, process zones, inspection route, utilities, wastewater and chilling. The line arrangement should be developed with the building layout.

Existing facility upgrade

Document the current building, retained machines, rail elevations, operator routes and shutdown constraints. Identify interfaces that need redesign before selecting replacement equipment.

Cold-chain and by-product interfaces

Confirm carcass transfer to chilling, separate by-product routes, drainage and cleaning arrangements with the project engineers.

What to provide for an initial review

  • Country and project location
  • Site or existing building plan with dimensions
  • Animal type and product route
  • Expected operating schedule and target volume for engineering review
  • Preferred process, including any halal review requirements
  • Water, power, heat, wastewater and cold-room information
