Pig scalding and dehairing module solution

Coordinate pig scalding and spiral dehairing equipment with fixed transfer interfaces, heating, water services, hair handling and retrofit responsibilities.

A pig scalding and dehairing module brings two connected operations into one scope discussion. The proposal should account for carcass transfer into scalding, water and heat services, the spiral dehairing arrangement and the outlet to finishing or dressing. This solution is useful both for a new wet-process area and for a retrofit between retained bleeding and dressing equipment.

Map the module from inlet to outlet

  • Inlet boundary: show the bleeding exit, pre-washing station where included, transfer method and entry level.
  • Scalding scope: identify the heating and water-management connections, cleaning access and discharge route to be reviewed.
  • Dehairing scope: establish the proposed machine arrangement, its transfer connections and hair/water handling.
  • Outlet boundary: identify the next finishing or dressing operation and any hoisting or other transfer required to reach it.

Concept example: a retrofit between fixed interfaces

Suppose the bleeding section and downstream dressing rail will remain. Measure their elevations and handoff positions first. Place the proposed scalding and dehairing arrangement between them, then check service access and the path to the drains. If the new outlet cannot meet the retained dressing route, the transfer belongs in the proposal. This is an engineering discussion example, with no assumed machine count, footprint or throughput.

Keep external utilities visible in the scope

Ask the proposal to state what is supplied with the equipment and what the site must provide for clean water, heating, power, circulation connections and discharge. Coordinate wastewater treatment with the planned water discharge and hair/solids handling. Heat generation, external pipework, floor drains and treatment capacity should each have an identified responsible party.

Buyer questions before a package decision

  • Is the existing scalding or dehairing equipment being retained, and what condition and measurements are available?
  • Which heat and clean-water sources can the facility provide at the proposed location?
  • Does the space include access for cleaning, routine inspection and maintenance as well as the machine footprint?
  • Where will hair, wash water and emptied scalding water enter the site’s handling system?
  • Which surface-finishing operations follow dehairing, and is their inlet already defined?
  • What local hygiene and environmental review must be completed before the final arrangement is accepted?

Information needed for the module review

Send a drawing covering the bleeding outlet through the dressing entrance, available floor and rail levels, utility positions, drain locations, carcass range and operating schedule. For an upgrade, add photographs and an installation-window brief. The resulting scope review should identify the machine interfaces and utility responsibilities before project-specific operating parameters are agreed.
