A pig scalding system prepares the carcass for the dehairing stage. Equipment selection must address carcass transfer, heating, water circulation and discharge as one connected process. The design brief should explain how the scalding system will operate with the bleeding exit and the selected dehairing machine.

Define the complete wet-process boundary
- Carcass entry: identify the transfer from bleeding and pre-washing, including floor levels, rail position and the method used to present carcasses to scalding.
- Water and heat: provide the available clean-water source and heat source. Ask the proposal to identify circulation, make-up water, heating connections and control responsibilities.
- Carcass exit: coordinate the scalding discharge with the dehairer inlet. Do not fix one machine’s position before checking this transfer.
- Cleaning and discharge: reserve access for cleaning, water emptying, inspection and maintenance. Show how discharge enters the wastewater and solids-handling plan.
Scalding-specific procurement questions
- Which heat source can the site provide, and who designs the external heating supply?
- What clean-water and drainage services are available at the proposed equipment position?
- Which items belong to the machine package, and which circulation, supply or discharge services must be supplied locally?
- How will operators access the system for cleaning and checks without disrupting adjacent dressing work?
- Which carcass range and operating pattern must the engineering review consider?
- How will the local hygiene plan address water management and the transition to dehairing?
What to submit before requesting a system proposal
Provide a drawing from the bleeding outlet to the dressing entrance, the intended dehairing configuration, the utility survey and the wastewater concept. In a retrofit, include measured machine inlets and outlets and photographs of drains and service access. Temperature, residence time, water demand and heat demand must be established for the actual process; the website photograph supplies none of those figures.
Use the scalding and dehairing module guide to coordinate the package with spiral pig dehairing equipment. Collect the site inputs and discuss the wet-process scope.
